Our Solutions

Workplace injury and illness are caused by an accumulation of multiple risk factors that can deteriorate the body, leaving it susceptible to injury.  If the match between the worker and the work tasks is poor, the worker’s ability to effectively perform the job may be compromised.  Over the short term, this poor match may lead to fatigue, worker discomfort, and eventually decreased productivity.  If the condition persists, physical injury and impairment may ultimately occur.  Other psychosocial issues, such as work ethic, employee relations, wellness attitudes and affluence also play a major role in the development and effect of workplace musculoskeletal disorders.

Ergonomics Plus, Inc. works with companies to design and implement work injury prevention programs that are unique to each company and its specific needs. We focus on the “human factor” by identifying behavioral risks associated with sleeping posture, physical conditioning, relaxation habits and faulty body mechanics. We also evaluate the “workplace factor” by observing job tasks, tools, equipment, machines, work processes and workstation layout.

Our primary approach is comprised of four aspects:

Early Intervention focuses on containing costs, improving employee health, and enhancing labor relations through early intervention.  The earlier an employee relates symptoms or fatigue, the less the case will cost, and the sooner the causative risk factors can be identified and addressed.

Ergonomics is the process of designing the job to fit the person, rather than forcing the person to fit the job.  Ergonomics related problems often indicate some inadequacy involving interface design—the physical aspect of the worksite with which employees interact.

Exercise is the process of improving the worker’s performance profile, so that injury and illness are reduced at work and at home.  Like professional athletes, workers are paid to use their bodies to perform work.  The more fit the “industrial athlete” the better the work product produced, and the better the health status of the employee.

Education ensures the workforce is aware of behavioral risk factors at work and at home.  This awareness motivates employees to accept responsibility for adopting healthier work habits and lifestyle.  Education also ensures that supervisors, managers and technical staff members understand the importance of early intervention, and the benefit of using sound ergonomics principles in the design of work, and the purchasing of equipment and tooling.
